What is the season of Lent like for us.

The first week of Lent- we are in the midst of the Wilderness with Our Lord- our own desert.

We have set up our prayer spaces. One for the school area and one in our sitting room.
We spend a lot of time in this room, as we have minimalised our TV usage. That in itself is hard.
People ask, did you see this.... and we say no.... we don't watch it.... it reminds me of the school hard pressure, when I was asked did you watch blah blah last night?..... Its very freeing.

We are running a Lenten group from our home together, this year. We have in the past participated in seperate male & female groups, but it can make Lent very busy, and its nice to faciliate this group together. So a Sacred space in our sitting room will be a focal point in this Lenten journey.

Apart from Lent, The Lord is showing us the way, in our new parish. Brid is alter serving, we are making contributions with music, and other roles we have always played in the church. He is leading us gently into this parish, and we need to Trust his ways.

We are learning the ways other parishes and priests celebrate Lent and the seasons of the year.
I have to keep my mouth zipped often, as I learn the way I once knew, was just that one way.

This is what we have been doing all week

As I said a couple of posts ago, we have been doing an intensive writing course. We travelled to a friends each day. About 40 mins from our home. morning tea on arrival and throughout the morning, us Mums 'would decide what we would serve up for lunch.
It was a really great way for the girls to learn. The girls bounced ideas of each other, and boy did they have fun during break time. The horses, cubbies, and swings are never so much fun, as when you share it with a friend. Coconut thought she was in heaven, lots of people to cuddle. I made the mistake of sitting in her chair--well she jumped up and cuddled right beside me.
Coconut joined in on every activity and sat and listened to the seminar as well. She needed to know too!
So that is what we have been up to, maybe now we can get into some of this terms work.

Come Follow me and I will make you fishers of men..

This weeks Gospel reading talks about Following Jesus now just as we are . Leaving our old life and following him into his will for us.

This in itself can be hard to do, especially in this day and age of job insecurity, but we are called to do just that. Trust and follow him.

He didn't say it would be easy, but he would bless us for our obedience.

So everytime we say our Yes, we are obeying his plan for us. We are leaving our old ways, and embracing the will of God.

Just like Our Lady, at the Annunication, she knew this would be a big ask, but in her obedience, she did his will, just as we must do.

So I just Love this reading, because it is a reminder in trusting, obeying and waiting for what comes next.

We have had a very hard journey over the last few years, but it makes it easier knowing God has it all in hand, and we only need to Trust in him.

So as the song goes... Come follow me and will make you become fishers of people, light of the world, salt of the earth, so pick up you cross and follow me....

1st Week

We commenced our school week, last week.
We began with a two day workshop at a friends home. I have begun using Institute of Excellence in Writing. We decided to do this workshop together, so the girls would have fun. It has worked they have had big days, but fun. Brids' loved it and can see how it will fit into her school work.
Girl Guides started again this week. A big smile on one girls face.
Wednesday we had a funeral to attend. Our eldest daughters' boyfriends mum, died the week before. It was a sad day. It took up most of the day. Very draining. Sandy was lovely to our Louise, and we continue to pray for her soul.
We had a normal school day on Thursday, with lots of short interesting subjects. Australia studies included travelling around Australia. Botany was fairly self directed. Timestables -oh dear, more work to remember. It was a fairly peace filled. I actually got some school filing done from last year work.
Friday was our Art Design course. Too much fun in one day. Even us Mums' joined in.
We will see how next week goes, but as Brid matures, it certainly is becoming much easier. She has a healthy understanding of her schooling. We are proud of her efforts.
Hoping we can get to all our after school things as well this week.

Our pool got its concrete shell this week- actually Wednesday, so now thank goodness, we have out water tanks full, so we can water the concrete, using them, instead of using town water.
